Have you ever heard that laughter is the best medicine? It’s no joke, and is the reason Dr. Dale Anderson created National Well-Elderly day (or Wellderly day) “in an effort to promote the health benefits of happiness, humor and laughter.”
It may sound silly, but this simple practice not only puts a person in a better mental state but stimulates beneficial body processes as well.
That single belly laugh can release endorphins- the body’s “feel-good” chemical, relax your muscles and decrease your heart rate and blood pressure. Laughing every day has been proven to boost your immune system, relieve pain and make you happier!
The past year has taken an emotional toll on all of us. As we count down the days until we can share a laugh with our friends and loved ones, we may find sharing one with ourselves is one way we can practice faking it ’til we make it.
